Underwater Observatory Park – Worldwide unique experience
Eilat is blessed with the most amazing and unique coral reef in the world, with an underwater marine observatory situated in the heart of the reef. The park offers its visitors a rare opportunity to enter the natural and abundant marine kingdom of the Red Sea – an unforgettable experience for both young and old.
The park has a spectacular display (over 800 species) of fish, coral, sharks, mollusks, stingrays, turtles, and many other animals from the Gulf of Eilat. and, the most unforgettable place of all – the Underwater Marine Observatory, the only one of its kind in the world! The observatory is a tower situated in the middle of the sea, without any fences or cages, offering a rare view of the Red Sea, with its bright colors, tones, and the marine life in the Gulf of Eilat. The tower is comprised of two display halls. These halls are submerged at a depth of 12 meters under the sea, offering visitors a natural view of the coral reef’s spectacular beauty through huge plate glass windows.
Open and feeding hours
The park is open daily from 08.30-16.00.
Visitors to the park are welcome to watch the feeding of the animals in a variety of shows.
The feedings which take place daily at set hours, are accompanied by explanations by the park team and include information about the fish and animals.
Some feedings are carried out by divers who feed the marine animals underwater. The diver, wearing a special mask with a microphone and earplugs, communicates with the audience during the feed.
The Shark World tour begins in a dark hall, at the end of which is a huge 4 X 10 window, which lets in a pleasant bluish light. The window overlooks the pool, which houses 18 sharks, walruses, sea bats and thousands of fish that coexist in perfect harmony. Further on, visitors cross the pool through a breathtaking, transparent tunnel, 15 meters long. The sharks and other marine creatures swim above and alongside the visitors, who are astonished to see them up so close.
The Oceanarium is a huge simulator. In a spacious, air-conditioned hall containing 140 seats, a film is screened on three huge high-quality HD screens, and the visitor takes part in a journey through the depths of the Sea.
Coral 2000 is deep, glass-bottom boat. Guests sit in the bottom portion and look through private windows into the depths of the Sea to the Coral Reef.
The windows of the Observatory are located at a depth of six meters under the Sea, where you can view all of the amazing natural life in the Gulf of Eilat; this is the open sea and everything is completely natural. The area is not defined, nor do we feed the fish or interfere in any way whatsoever with the life of the reef and its inhabitants.
The Photography Store is located in the entrance piazza of the Park and offers a variety of services: Rental of digital cameras, Burning photographs onto discs, Photographic services of a professional photographer, Sale of cameras, camera accessories, bags, tapes, batteries, albums and more.
The Souvenir Store in the Underwater Observatory Park is the flagship store in the area. In the store you will find an abundance of special, high-quality items from the best manufacturers in Israel and worldwide. Amongst the products you will find logo items, books, video tapes, posters, home and kitchen-ware, specially-printed T-shirts, a variety of marine and shore-related gifts and, of course, postcards & postage stamps that can be sent directly from the store.
There are two jewelry stores in the Underwater Observatory Park that attract clientele due to the fact that they are unique, reliable and they provide product warranty. Shopping in the stores is an experience in itself.
Food and Beverages
A self-service meat restaurant that offers a variety of delicious meals: lunch, children’s meals, a variety of sandwiches, ice-creams, cakes, desserts and all kinds of beverages.
The restaurant has a large air-conditioned room and an outdoor terrace overlooking the open sea.
